There is no shortcut to get through your divorce. The only way out is through. But the difficult road of your divorce can lead to a beautiful destination.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • If you are just pondering the question “Should I stay or should I go?”, then my Finances FIRST Framework introductory strategy series is for you. We'll look at the financial ramifications of a possible divorce so you can make an informed, empowered decision about your next steps

If you suspect your spouse wants a divorce, engaging me is a proactive step you can take to understand your financial situation.

  • Congratulations and condolences! You’re in the messy middle, and if you’ve gotten there without a clear picture of your present financial situation, it’s not too late to engage me.

My Finances FIRST Framework may be appropriate for where you’re at, or my shorter Mapping Your Journey Strategy Series may be a better fit.

I even offer an organizing template for your assets & debts, and a personalized review of your numbers in my Asset Assessment.

I’d love to have a chat about your needs.

  • I’m a financial coach, so I can help with that, too! Head on over to my financial coaching page to book a First Steps Call or Beach Walk to discuss what that support looks like.

In this role, I work with clients around the U.S.

I am NOT a registered financial advisor and do NOT manage your investment assets. For that service, I refer to fee-only, fiduciary advisors (search a directory).

  • Not directly, as I don’t meet with both spouses. As a coach, I work for and on behalf of just one person – you! However, if YOU are the one “project managing” your divorce, I can help YOU develop a financial proposal to present to your spouse – and it might be accepted outright or provide the foundation for negotiation.

For couples seeking a “financial neutral” to assist them both in understanding their financial situation and drafting a division of assets and debts that feels fair to them, I refer to Certified Divorce Financial Analysts who also do mediation (search the official directory).

  • Yes and yes. I have and will continue to serve both. The key is that you were legally married and are seeking to dissolve that marriage in a Washington State court.

  • In Washington State, this is known as a Committed Intimate Relationship (CIR). Yes, I can help you understand your financial situation and strategize your next steps.

Let’s talk sooner than later! I have assisted a number of individuals in this situation, and the biggest mistake I see is waiting too long after separating to formalize agreements.

  • No, some of my services are available to anyone residing in the U.S. — including post-divorce financial coaching.

However, some of my divorce services are best suited for Washington State residents.

Divorce laws are state-specific and can be quite different state to state. I choose to focus on those divorcing in Washington State (usually one spouse is living here) so that I can bring valuable expertise to the table.

I keep up to date on the specifics of my home state’s community property rules, filing requirements, government pensions, etc.

I encourage you to build your divorce team in your home state, but if my outlook aligns with yours, let’s see if it could work! Please book a complimentary consultation to assess our fit.

  • Yes, if my coaching turns out not to be a good fit, either one of us may choose to end the coaching relationship early.

As long as 48 hours’ notice is provided before a scheduled session, it may be canceled for a pro-rated refund of the pre-paid amount. (Note that for an Introductory Strategy Series, $500 of your fee is applied to the first session to cover onboarding.)

Refunds for unused sessions must be requested and granted in writing and are not provided beyond six months after initial purchase.

  • I’m here for you! We’ll discuss the options before your package is complete. Consider me to be on your financial team going forward.
